Job Description:
This job is responsible for leading cross functional teams to
manage infrastructure delivery, including initiatives within
Application Production Services and Engineering. Key
responsibilities include serving as a point of contact for
application teams and working with Technology stakeholders, Service
Providers, and the business to deliver the Infrastructure
Portfolio. Job expectations may include oversight and management of
programs, coordinating activities across functional teams,
remediating or escalating issues, and ensuring funding levels are
maintained for key technology strategies.
The Service Delivery Consultant Tech Release will be responsible
for overseeing the end-to-end release process of software products
within the Internal Networks Software and Automation team.Ensuring
that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with the
highest quality. This role involves coordinating with various
teams, managing release schedules, and ensuring that release
processes are followed and continuously improved.
Responsibilities
- Release Planning
- Develop and manage release schedules, including planning and
coordination of release activities.
- Define release processes and ensure adherence to these
processes across all teams.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to align
release plans with project timelines and business objectives.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate release activities across multiple teams including
Solutions design (SDE) and Network deployment (NDE) as well as
local developers writing code.
- Communicate release plans, schedules, and status to
stakeholders.
- Facilitate release planning meetings, status meetings, and
retrospectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all release-related
activities and updates.
- Provide regular status reports and updates to stakeholders,
including senior management.
- Facilitate release readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, and
release retrospectives.
- Release Quality:
- Ensure that all release-related activities are performed
according to established processes and standards.
- Work with development team to ensure thorough testing and
validation of releases.
- Monitor release progress and address any issues or risks that
may arise.
- Deployment and Post-Release:
- Ensure that deployment activities are completed successfully,
and that site specific documentation is up to date with current
release details.
- Address any deployment issues and schedule follow up meeting to
coordinate any remediation activities required.
- Maintain release-related documentation, including release
notes, deployment guides, and rollback plans.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve release management processes
to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Consider, discuss and where relevant implement best practices
and tools for release management and automation.
- Conduct post-release reviews and capture lessons learned to
drive future improvements.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure that release processes comply with organizational
policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and enforce release governance and standards across
all releases.
- Oversees infrastructure delivery (scope, milestones, and
capability) of the book of work and executes and monitors the
progress of initiatives/projects to address roadblocks and issues
proactively, including infrastructure impacted book of work and
Technology Infrastructure (TI) strategic efforts
- Acts as a single point of contact for all technology
stakeholder needs including network, storage, server, and TI
supporting software and serves as a point of escalation for issues
and defining plans to resolve and communicate those problems
requiring further attention
- Reports on key metrics, prioritizes the work across the
portfolio, and monitors the overall health of the portfolio
- Manages trusted relationships with the business and technology
leaders and prepares a detailed portfolio level plan to agree on
deliverables, including service levels and milestones
- Manages yearly and monthly initiative funding budget and
allocations, providing financial transparency for Technology Cost
of Application (TCOA) chargebacks, capital forecasting, initiative
finances, and stale application volumes
- Communicates Core Technology Infrastructure (CTI) strategies,
services, and products to technology stakeholders, advocates for
top priorities within CTI, and influences change effectively
through strong partnerships
- Leads fellowship Communities of Practice (CPO) in the
organization and across other delivery teams
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a Release Manager or in a similar role
within software development (3+ years).
- Experience managing software releases in an Agile/Scrum
environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and
release management processes.
- Proficiency with release management tools and platforms (e.g.,
Jenkins, GitLab, Jira).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git).
