Job Description:
As a Power Supply Design Engineer, you will have primary
engineering responsibility for electrical design tasks including
requirements analysis, specification generation, interface
definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic
capture, and board layout for low-voltage switching power supply
solutions. You will design power supply circuitry utilizing Power
Factor Correction, Forward, Boost, Buck, and SEPIC topologies with
output power ranges of 10W -150W. You will also engage in all
phases of product development, including concept, architecture,
design, and test.
The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is a part
of L3Harris' Agile Development Group and specializes in developing
disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air
Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon
systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company
agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions:
Support power designs for all circuit card assemblies (Dig, Pwr,
RF, etc. CCAs)
Design and specify magnetic components
Schedule, cost, and technical responsibility at the board or
subsystem level
Electrical design synthesis at the board or subsystem level
Simulate, Breadboard, Test and Troubleshoot analog and power
conversion circuits and subsystems
Provide senior level mentoring and consultation for beginning power
engineer designs
Provide SME level design review guidance
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances as
required
Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as
required
Up to 10% travel may be required
Other duties as required
Basic Qualifications:
U.S. citizen
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Minimum 9 years of broadly based design, simulation and test
experience with power circuits and systems
Minimum 5 years Defense Industry experience
Experience in circuit simulation tools such as SPICE and/or
HyperLynx
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Physical Requirements - ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Active DoD clearance with current 5 year update
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and/or
equivalent experience desired
Minimum 5 years experience leading small engineering teams
Excellent problem solving skills
Must be able to perform detailed analysis
Basic knowledge of Mil-Std-461
Capable of working independently in a lab environment
Experience performing design trade studies comparing functionality,
quality, and cost.
Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating
in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, &
presentation)
