Location: 7701 Legacy Drive, Plano, TX 75024 Duties: Manage global packaging development and initial commercialization to deliver PepsiCo packaging innovation strategies across all regions and sectors, including breakthrough territories. Provide monthly updates to senior leaders on workflow, output and quantifying success to justify capability investment. Lead planning and production of prototype materials used across the organization by creating and utilizing project prioritization tools. Responsible for the design and layout of global innovation and prototype laboratories, including bringing in new capabilities or expanding into other global regions. Lead continuous improvements in laboratory efficiency, output and associate growth. Provide semi-annual analysis of return on investment for packaging design capabilities including personnel and equipment. Responsible for the development, qualification and scale up of new materials and formats, applying statistical methods to ensure reliability and repeatability. Responsible for ordering materials/equipment, creating test protocols and result reports. Determine equipment fit for use and recommend modifications for corrective actions through development and qualification, using statistical analysis. Use statistical programs like Minitab, to evaluate data, troubleshoot, understand manufacturing process reliability and provide corrective action recommendations. Responsible for managing external partner lead times within overall project lead time and making recommendations and changes based on continued communication between parties. Manage team to develop test protocols based on statistically significant sample size and analysis, and direct team in the data measurement, collection and analysis. Qualifications/Requirements Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Industrial Design or related and ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have ten (10) years of experience with: developing and executing consumer goods package innovation and cost savings programs, including consumer ideation, development, testing and execution through commercialization; working and collaborating with cross-functional project teams, including Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Development, Procurement and Marketing/Sales; developing packaging equipment technologies, including vertical form fill, horizontal form fill, cartoning, rigid technologies (thermoform, injection mold, blow molding) and material compatibility; providing technical guidance to suppliers across materials, equipment and go-to market systems; and project management experience to drive organizational alignment and project prioritization. Must have five (5) years of experience with: applying industrial design principles to consumer goods package development to enable concept evolution through manufacturing scalability; leading and developing package consumer testing; evaluating consumer preference or performance results in physical, analytical, and consumer testing; management experience developing team technical capabilities and aligning to organization strategy for growth, including identification and exploration of future pipeline technical opportunities. Must have three (3) years of experience building and managing a global packaging and prototyping specific design lab that creates prototypes and consumer facing models. Travel required 15% of the time.
