Description: Job Title: Lead, Manufacturing Engineering Position: req #AS20212001-55303 Location: Plano, TX Job Description: As a Lead, Manufacturing Engineering, you will develop and implement the Manufacturing Engineering & Supply Chain strategy for strategic proposals and lead the successful transition of advanced radar technology development projects into low rate production at an affordable cost. Develops, implements, and communicates manufacturing engineering plans, strategies and projects to internal and external customers. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. This position supports the Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division, which specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience. Essential Functions: + Develop and implement the Manufacturing Engineering & Supply Chain strategy for strategic proposals and lead the successful transition of advanced radar technology development projects into low rate production at an affordable cost. + Participate on Program or Business Area Leadership team and provide the Manufacturing Engineering perspective for successful program planning, organization and execution. Support what if analysis as needed during program execution. + Develop program manufacturing plans including prototype and production configuration build schedules, material requirements, factory schedules, etc. + Determine resource requirements, including operations and manufacturing labor, expense, space/facility and production capital equipment to support program. + Coordinate required hands on support for hardware build (breadboard through production). + Lead efforts with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Contracts and Customers in resolution of any manufacturing engineering related issues. + Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and establish and execute plans to attain Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) requirements throughout the supply chain. + Create and manage Design to Unit Production Cost (DTUPC) models + Plan and execute producibility efforts, including application of DFM/A techniques, with project teams to attain Average Unit Production Cost (AUPC) requirements. + Provide manufacturing engineering input to product configuration planning activity. Review and evaluate engineering drawings and change notices. Provide input to CCB on change effectivity and direct disposition actions as needed. + Conduct Value Stream analysis and optimize production and test flows (including make/buy trade studies) across supply chain. + Plan deployment and use of lean manufacturing techniques, including application of process control and improvement techniques, with project and factory teams to attain DTUPC, throughput and quality performance requirements. + Establish the collection, analysis and reporting of manufacturing data (metrics) to promote continuous improvement. + Develop and present manufacturing engineering topics at major program reviews (i.e. SRR, PDR, CDR, PRR, QPRs). Participate in walk-thru preparatory reviews of all major program review presentation materials. + Lead execution of development efforts. Use of manufacturing engineering standard procedures, tools, artifacts and metrics to enable the successful execution of program. Examples include cost estimating, MRL and capacity analysis and planning, product flows, DFMA, and build readiness for CDR, PDR, PRR, etc. + Mentor junior Manufacturing Engineering personnel in the planning and execution of program objectives. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: + U.S. citizen. + Existing DoD clearance with a current 5-year update; must be able to obtain additional clearances as required. + BS in Engineering, Operations Management, or closely related field. + Minimum of 10 years in manufacturing engineering planning & execution with experience in electronics manufacturing industries, with 5 or more of those years being in the DoD environment. + Proposal cost estimating / cost modeling & management experience with a heavy focus in cost out and long-term operational planning. + Direct experience working in an Engineering Development environment. + Direct experience with Manufacturing Readiness Levels or other transition to production tools. + Excellent grasp of, and ability to articulate, the principles of product cost and its drivers. + Ability to successfully execute responsibilities in a small program team environment (just as comfortable doing as leading). + Working knowledge of electronics industry manufacturing technologies and supply chain capabilities. + Working knowledge of procurement practices and processes. + Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering and planning. + Working knowledge of AS9100 quality system and AS6500 Manufacturing Management Program. + Proficiency with Excel & ERP systems (prior Costpoint experience desired). + Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. + Must be able to travel 20%. Preferred Additional Skills: + Recent experience planning and launching new complex products / subsystems on recently developed vehicles or aircraft. + Supply Chain knowledge of Wafer / IC fabrication and cost reduction. + Direct experience with deploying lean manufacturing strategies and techniques. + Prior experience in Design-to-Cost or Cost Estimating will be a significant plus. + Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and capability. + Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment. + Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success. + Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
