The role of the Staff Engineer Technology Support (TS) Team is to support our US customers through innovative technology road mapping (handling Product Management and Engineering process for Core) and product introduction prior to Samsung General Acceptance (GA). This role is responsible for supporting the team of telecom professionals with pre-sales engineering activities of Samsung Core Network products for U.S. customers. In addition, you will support the Core products after they have been deployed to our customer networks and are in commercial operation.Role and Responsibilities:Supports pre-sales engineering activities including: + Customers RFx responses + Technical presentations, demos, trials, IOTs, Plug Test, and Industry Forum contributions Supports pre- and post-sales engineering activities including: + Customers engineering requirements, solution designs, test plans, and product documentations. + Samsung product SW/HW release, lab certification, and First Office Application acceptance. + Support deployed Core products after they are in commercial use with our US customers. Collaborates with Korean Suwon R&D teams to finalize the product design and strategy. Collaborates with other SEA organizations to promote and deliver Samsung solutions. Collaborates with solutions partners for product integrations and deliveries.Success Criteria:Technical Acumen+ Core Expert in driving Samsung Core solutions and products. + Deep understanding of 3GPP 5G and 4G Standards related to Core networking functions. Additional, knowledge of RAN standards will be an asset. + Understanding of System Engineering principles from requirements, design and implementation of core networking functions. + Understanding of transport network technologies used for packet processing and routing. + Familiarity with supporting voice infrastructure on 4G and 5G Core networks. + Familiarity with Cloud Native Architecture requirements used by 5G network functions. + Familiarity with Kubenertes platforms such as Openshift, Windriver and VMWare. Familiarity with Public Cloud platform such as AWS EKS is an asset. + Familiarity with Network Virtualization along with the Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions for Samsung products.Presentations Skills+ Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with all levels of organization, especially with Samsung Product Strategy and R&D. + Able to make technical presentations to large number of people either in a customer or internal Samsung setting.Excellence Dealing with Ambiguity+ Bringing experience in problem solving and ability to manage Core TS Team with pivotal shifts.Skills and QualificationsSkills and Qualifications:+ A Bachelors Degree in engineering (EE, CS) or related electronics technical training from four-year College or university. Masters Degree (EE, CS) preferred in an area of specialized engineering expertise preferred. + 10+ years experience. + Have in-depth technical engineering experience including wireless telecommunications engineering activities. + Hands on experience with 4G/5G Core networking product development or deployment. + Hands on experience working with team of professional telecom engineers. + Supports initiatives across multiple levels within customer organizations. + Working with customers and Samsung Networks R&D to facilitate and validate the Core designs. + Provides ongoing Core technical support to customers (prior and after Samsung GA) requiring scalability and growth in their network. + Ensures the technical information and products support customer requirements. + Provides internal technical training on new and existing technologies for Core team, as needed. + Responsible for Core technical issues and supports non-routine requests from Samsung R&D and customers. + Extensive interaction with our Product Strategy and R&D in roadmaps, development and testing and post-sales support, as needed.Necessary Skills and attributes:+ The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects and simultaneous performance objectives. Have a personal work schedule that is productive. Ability to work in a team environment to achieve personal and team project milestones and to complete assignments within established timeframes. Accept tasks and problems/situations that differ, requiring creativity to search for optimal solutions, when only broad and general guidelines exist for solving problems. Ability to utilize implied knowledge of task alternatives and to make spontaneous decisions using own experience and guidance and/or successful experiences of others. Demonstrated ability to interact at multiple levels with customers. Support negotiations to convince others on our direction, in a potentially adversarial environment, including customer directors, managers and staff with opposing views to accept/approve plans, technical and project recommendations. Make technical presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, to an audience of technical and management experience. Analyze and deliver accurate technical proposals and designs to meet customer and Samsung R&D expectations.
