Overview

The Director of Human Resources is responsible to ensure service excellence in meeting the needs of our team members as well as creating and implementing best in class processes to support current and future strategic business goals and objectives. The Director of Human Resources will work closely as a strategic partner with the business to support HR activities, new initiatives and programs that relate to performance acceleration, training, HR operations, talent management, compliance, workforce optimization, and team member retention and engagement.

Responsibilities

* Advise, support, guide and counsel people leaders and team members on employment related matters, interpretation of company policies and practices, procedures, compliance laws, standards and regulations.

* Partner with cross-functional teams such as employee relations, benefits, onboarding, and recruiting on communications and best practices.

* Maintain a high level of contact with team members to foster effective collaboration with the HR Teams.

* Create and implement retention strategies.

* Create regular reports to analyze data and make recommendations to leadership team. Evaluate effectiveness through reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

* Develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for the company across 50 states, and U.S. territories as well as Canada.

* Plan, organize, and oversee multiple functions within human resources while implementing best practices in compliance.

* Assist with performance acceleration processes while acting as a process guide to team members and people leaders.

* Implement HR strategies that promote business growth and align with the company's strategic plans.

* Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures. Update and maintain team member guidebook of policies and procedures. Oversee annual re-evaluation of policies and create updates as necessary.

* Respond to team member and management team inquires (via IM, email and phone) quickly and accurately.

* Maintain current and relevant knowledge in a variety of concepts, practices, procedures as well as legal updates associated with all areas of Human Resources.

* Participate as a company representative in legal actions, including depositions and unemployment hearings, as necessary.

Responsibilities With Regard to Workers' Compensation Claims:

Qualifications

Education/Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources including compliance, performance management and employee relations is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience hiring, training and supervising team members is required. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred

Specific Skills:

* Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws, statutes and best practices as they relate to human resources

* Effective organizational skills to simultaneously manage multiple projects, tasks and requests

* Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality, integrity and ethical decisions

* Excellent relationship building and communication skills required

* Strategic thinking skills

Computer Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Professional certifications PHR or SPHR (or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to operate a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role may have direct reports.

Work Environment: Office environment is primary work location. Up to 10% travel may be required from time-to-time.

Language Skills: English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be required based on business necessity.
