POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Visualization Specialist, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for developing business intelligence applications, reports, dashboards, and queries that provide relevant, timely and insightful information to support data-driven decision making and improve operational performance within the HR department at FedEx Office. This role is a key resource on behalf of HR for driving Power BI implementation, governance, and upskilling, working in partnership with cross-functional teams of data analytics developers, analysts, and testers to empower them to apply automation to alleviate manual reporting efforts, maintain data quality, increase data literacy, and create compelling visualizations. The Data Visualization Specialist will direct Power BI development efforts for HR in supporting the growing needs around data driven decision making and high priority data transformation initiatives, while also managing HR reporting initiatives such as FXO's Workforce Dashboard and continuous improvement. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive) Collaborate with and advise IT developers, functional and technical SMEs, and testers on behalf of HR to understand, translate, and solve key business challenges while conveying key insights using data visualization techniques and methods Coordinate and manage "reporting as a service" across HR and guide business teams in efforts to optimize data quality, data flow, collection, modeling, and visualizations for functional teams Key resource, advisor, and coordinator for HR report and metric rationalization, data visualization, dashboards, and Power BI utilization, troubleshooting, and best practices; providing technical and user support as needed Work with community of experts to problem solve and facilitate additional ways of using Power BI platform to improve workflow and efficiencies across departments and shared datasets Develop intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations extracting large, complex data sets from a variety of data sources and systems, performing data manipulation, and cleansing best practices to prep data for visualization Develop reports, dashboards & scorecards, data exploration, and visual analytics using existing and emerging technologies and tools Manage ongoing reporting initiatives such as FXO's Workforce Dashboard while simultaneously looking for ways to enhance and enrich existing reporting efforts through new metric creation, report usage monitoring, and report deprecation (as needed) Serve as a coach and mentor to promote adoption of BI and data visualization with HR teams and leadership by showing the mechanics, benefits, and capabilities to each engaged stakeholder group to enable the effective management of data within their area of responsibility On behalf of HR, serve as a key resource in ongoing code reviews and ensures consistent quality and adherence to policies, procedures, and data standards while troubleshooting and remediating data integrity or workflow issues Access and utilize data on cloud, while partnering and consulting with subject matter experts to gather requirements, prepare, and curate relevant data sets to be utilized by HR and the business Effectively utilize APIs, data delivery services, and frameworks that consume data from different sources and supports critical operational and analytical applications Applies effective data visualization techniques and psychological tactics to drive the audience to effectively interpret, drill down, and extract meaningful insights Serve as trusted advisor to FedEx Office BI experts in HR to escalate needs and identify existing and emerging technology, tools, and solutions to address business challenges All other duties as needed or required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Data Visualization, Management Information Systems, Applied Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experience 4+ years' experience implementing and advising on BI and analytics solutions to assist in business performance metric tracking, data mining, provisioning, data storytelling, and report publishing 3+ years development experience with Microsoft Power BI strongly preferred Project and/or consulting experience with requirements gathering and implementing business intelligence and analytics solutions in corporate and/or client-facing environment preferred Significant Microsoft Power BI experience including PowerQuery data modelling, DAX language expertise, Microsoft SQL Server queries, and visualization Prior experience and high level of proficiency in SQL and understanding of relational databases and data integrity concepts Highly analytical strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine questions, and develop actionable intelligence Expert understanding of dashboarding, mashups, pivot tables, and lists, bar graphs, line graphs, box and whisker plots, tree maps, scatterplots, histograms, Pareto charts, control charts, small multiples, sparklines, and when such visualizations should be used. Experience configuring tenants and tenant administration abilities (APIs) Effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a team-oriented environment Storytelling with data across a variety of tools (Power BI, PPT, Excel, etc.) Knowledge of technical infrastructure, including cloud environments Proven experience delivering timely, high quality, senior manager-level reporting, and analysis from diverse, complex data sources.
