Accel Rehabilitation Hospital -in -Plano, TX -has an opportunity for a Clinical Evaluator to join our team!
-
The -Clinical Evaluator -role is responsible for completing patient pre-admission screenings (PAS), PAS updates and CMS 13 compliance. -
-
This position works collaboratively with the business development team members including the Clinical Liaisons, Admissions Coordinator, and admission staff, as well as nursing and other internal and external staff to facilitate the referral to admission process in a timely manner. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. -

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Clinical degree in healthcare related field whose scope of practice/education leads to competent assessments of medical conditions, functional status & risk for medical/ functional complications
Current licensure in nursing, medical social work, or therapy (OT, PT, RT, ST) is preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as clinical liaison preferred; prior inpatient rehabilitation/LTACH experience preferred.
The ability to multi-task and identify/interact with various internal and external staff
The ability to communicate in English via phone, in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patients, families and other external

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Excellent clinical and assessment skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to collect, document, and analyze data.
Word processing and data entry skills.
Completes pre-admission assessments thoroughly and accurately ensuring that it meets rehabilitation criteria in a timely manner (within 2 hours).
Reviews medical record of referred patient and identifies all aspects related to pre-certification financial coverage and admission criteria. Serves as a liaison to the Admissions office for insurance companies and provides clinical information to obtain pre-certification from payers.
Follows-up on internal and external issues related to referral/admission
Excellent relationship management skills with referral sources and physicians
Knowledge of PPS payment/reimbursement systems and DRG's/case weights.
Maintains open communication with CEO, Clinical Liaisons and Admissions to ensure teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect.
Achieves individual performance goals.
May require extended work hours and travel as needed.
