solutions.General Job Description:The National Director of Clinical
Compliance is responsible for ensuring AllerVie, its employees,
providers, and partners are educated on, attest to awareness of,
and maintain compliance with government regulations and avoid
missteps that could result in hefty fines, legal ramifications, and
reputation damage. The compliance director is responsible for
communicating and enforcing compliance culture, values, policies,
and procedures making sure AllerVie employees, partners, and
providers are following internal State and Federal compliance
standards. The director will be expected to assess compliance
risks, creating action plans to handle potential issues, provide
regular reports on the effectiveness of compliance measures, and
track applicable laws and regulations that affect compliance,
reporting, anticipating emerging compliance trends, and updating
policies as needed to meet the changing demands. The National
Director of Clinical Compliance will also advise Chief Compliance
Officer on clinical compliance, actions or changes that should be
implemented, and risks identified. The National Director of
Clinical Compliance is expected to collaborate as a partner,
demonstrate compliance as a business priority, and help drive a
culture of compliance throughout the organization.Overview of
typical duties for the Director of Compliance:
- Establishes compliance operational strategies by evaluating
trends, establishing critical measurements, accumulating resources,
resolving problems, and implementing change
- Enhances compliance and organization reputation by bringing
compliance recognition to the company and providing leadership in
the industry
- Must have strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory
guidelines and standards, knowledge of compliance standards and
policies, audit/assessment/investigation techniques, regulatory
issues, and operations and procedures.
- Developing, implementing, and managing AllerVie s compliance
program. Develops, maintains, and updates policies and procedures
for the operation of the national Compliance Program and its
related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper
conduct
- Coordinating with federal and state regulators, as needed
- Planning, implementing, and overseeing risk-related programs,
assessments, and investigations
- Improves and oversees a system to ensure that compliance issues
and concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated,
resolved, and documented.
- Conducts investigation of all incident reports as identified by
internal audits, hotline reports, and other sources to determine
appropriate response. Reviews and analyzes all occurrence reports
for risk management, quality of care, regulatory and insurance
concerns. Prepares incident summary reports; provides all required
documentation for investigations, activities and resolutions
related to the reported incident(s).
- In conjunction with appropriate staff, assists in identifying
potential clinical risk through risk assessment, analysis of
harmful and no-harm incidents, and near miss incidents, periodic
safety inspections, and/or audits. Makes recommendations to reduce,
prevent or eliminate risks identified.
- Accurately and succinctly presents cases to legal, compliance,
executive leadership, or physician leadership in a timely
manner.
- Maintains a risk assessment database and liaises with managers
and department heads on concerning incidents or issue trends.
Collaborates with Operations, Facilities, Clinical Training, and
Employee Safety on the development and implementation of the
Clinical Risk Management Action Plan.
- Developing company compliance communications, standardized
monthly and annual assessments, training, and attestations.
Coordinating, scheduling, and monitoring required compliance
training, goals, and attestations for employees
- Monitors and proposes policy and program changes related to new
government regulations, pronouncements, and industry
standards.
- Develops compliance organizational strategies by contributing
information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking
and direction, establishing functional objectives in line with
AllerVie s objectives
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational
opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating
in professional organizationsRequirementsSkills needed to
succeed:AllerVie is seeking a professional with excellent
analytical, project management, and organizational skills. Must
demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of healthcare industry laws,
regulations, and guidelines (e.g., FDA laws and regulations, CMS
laws and regulations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Federal
Anti-kickback, OSHA, and HIPAA). Proven ability to develop,
implement, and document policies, projects, processes, and controls
across an organization. Experience conducting and documenting
internal investigations. A minimum of 10 years experience in
compliance, risk, regulatory and/or legal. A bachelor s degree in
nursing, healthcare, or a related field is a must. Preferred master
s degree in healthcare, business administration, or related field
preferred. Managerial experience a plus. International Compliance
Association (ICA) certification, Certified Securities Compliance
Professional (CSCP), Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA)
Compliance Certification Board (CCB) certifications, Certified
Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Health Ethics Trust (HET) professional
certification, Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) a plus.While
both financial and business acumen are necessities for compliance
officers, the National Director of Clinical Compliance must also
have a solid mix of soft skills, including leadership abilities.
Expert communication and public speaking skills are needed to
facilitate a better organizational understanding of complex
regulatory standards. Integrity and a history of ethical
decision-making are also essential.
