Director Cybersecurity Engineering & Architecture(Plano In-Office)Job PurposeWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Cybersecurity Engineering and Architecture to lead and oversee our cybersecurity initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), identity and access management (IAM) engineering, and the implementation of secure, scalable infrastructures to protect against cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in designing and implementing enterprise cybersecurity frameworks, vendor management, contract negotiations, and leading Proof of Value (POV) and Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives.About Upbound/AcimaUpbound Group, Inc. • Evaluate and lead the assessment of current and future cyber architecture related to infrastructure and applications.
• Manage and lead a team of cybersecurity engineers and architects to ensure a collaborative and efficient work environment.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, product managers, and vendors.
• Develop and execute strategies for cybersecurity engineering, architecture, and design, focusing on hybrid network infrastructures and data security.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in application or infrastructure security.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of IAM solutions.
• Architect and deploy ZTNA models for secure access control.
• Manage vendor relationships, evaluate third-party solutions, and lead contract negotiations.
• Lead POV initiatives for new cybersecurity tools and technologies.
• Collaborate with third parties for cybersecurity technology implementation.
• Monitor usage and bandwidth of cybersecurity technologies for compliance.
• Work with cybersecurity and IT teams to ensure end-to-end protection and compliance with standards like NIST, PCI, SOX.
• Lead the organization's cybersecurity strategy, aligning it with business objectives and technology trends.
• Engage with stakeholders to address security concerns and develop policies.
• Design security frameworks supporting on-premise and hybrid environments.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance security systems, staying current with cybersecurity trends.
• Report to senior leadership on cybersecurity architecture effectiveness and strategic improvements.Required Skills & Experiences

• 10+ years in cybersecurity engineering and architecture, with at least 5 years in a managerial or director role.
• Expertise in IAM platforms such as Okta, Microsoft Entra, etc.
• Proven experience with ZTNA frameworks.
• Vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
• Hands-on with cybersecurity POC initiatives.
• Knowledge of network security, firewalls, encryption, VPNs, endpoint security.
• Experience with security controls like MFA, SSO, PAM.
• Understanding of risk management, compliance, and governance frameworks.
• Strategic thinking, project leadership, and hands-on implementation skills.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience managing budgets and leading high-performance teams.
• Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is desirable.
• Familiarity with application security principles is desirable.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA are highly desirable.Education
