Director, Engineering Northern Market The Director of Engineering
for the Northern Market is responsible for the development,
execution, and administration of all engineering responsibilities
on the Plano campus. This individual manages department operations;
plans, implements, and monitors budgets, goals and objectives for
the department and the associated staff; overseeing the short- and
long-term strategies to support the financial and business goals of
the department and the organization. Facilities operations,
maintenance, and repair (OM&R) oversight includes: utility
system and central utility plant; electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
systems; room pressurization program; fire damper testing &
inspection; painting; roof; interior and exterior lighting systems;
door inspection, pneumatic tube system; kitchen equipment;
elevator; medical gas systems; parking structure; windows and
treatments; life safety equipment inspection and testing; ERCOT
demand response program management; daily plant operations (steam
generation, chilled water, etc.) and maintenance of all utility
systems (power distribution, AHUs/HVAC, plumbing, medical gas,
etc.); and, grounds and landscaping. The Director is responsible
for the safe work practices of personnel as well as the safe,
compliant, and efficient operation of the equipment and facility.
Highlighted responsibilities include: - Oversight and daily
operations and management of department and associated personnel. o
Ensures daily staffing levels meet operational needs and makes
efficient use of resources. Manages supervisors and other
departmental employees. o Assigns work to Engineering staff as
determined by preventive maintenance schedules and repair needs. o
Verifies that all Engineering staff are properly educated and
trained on administrative and departmental policies and procedures;
monitors the skillset of staff and provide or arrange for
additional training as needed. o Responsible for working and
coordinating with the safety department to maintain standards and
resolve issues. Ensures all maintenance and inspections required by
the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) are completed per
requirements and properly documented. Participates in
audits/surveys (TJC/CMS) as necessary. - . Manages and coordinates
all activities with campus leadership and tenants. o Ensures all
Code-required maintenance and testing of equipment and systems is
properly accomplished and documented. o Plans, coordinates, and
supervises planned utility shutdowns in support of project work. o
Coordinates accomplishment of minor construction projects using
both contractor and in-house assets. o Gives input into Design
Drawings (DDs) and takes hand-offs of PD&C projects including
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), blueprints, warranty, and
training. Reviews drawings and other technical documentation to
ensure accuracy and proper function for proposed new systems. o
Serves on-call after hours to respond to incidents or emergencies
as required. Assists with planning and budgeting annually for
infrastructure projects. Initiates and Responds to all Life & Fire
Safety issues. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: The successful candidate
will have: - At least 10 years' experience in facilities management
and/or operations. - Ability to learn and apply new information,
knowledge, and experience in a timely manner is an essential
function of the job. - Ability to meet physical and non-physical
demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function
of the job. - Four-year Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent
