Position SummaryRAN Systems Engineering - Sr. Professional

for a RAN Systems Engineering Director I/Sr. Professional II
Engineer to join our Wireless network team. You will be a key
contributor to lead the IODT (Interoperability Device Testing)
across various chipset vendors the scope of which will include
requirements discussions, roadmap alignment, support lab and field
validation. Role and Responsibilities Specific responsibilities
include:
- Responsible to lead 4G and 5G RAN IODT team (Interoperability
Device Testing)
- Responsible for discussion technical requirements from
customers and chipset vendors.
- Work with R&D to align Samsung feature roadmap based on the
requirements. Lock down technical requirements between Samsung,
chipset vendors and our customers.
- Work with R&D development teams to convert the requirements
into system requirements and detailed design for the development
team and agree upon the SW release plan.
- Lead Feature Design activities related to 4G/5G Call
Processing, Air interface, OAM and Virtualization.
- Work with various teams with Samsung, chipset vendors and
customers to come up with a plan to test new features in lab and
field.
- Determine the resource requirements and put together a plan for
validation of chipset test plan in lab and field.
- Execute on the agreed upon plan and provide periodic reports
and share with external teams. Work with R&D and chipset
vendors to identify the issues and obtain resolution.
- Work closely with Samsung R&D and with various support
organizations, logistics, and cross- functional teams from SEA and
Samsung HQ to achieve successful product roll-outs meeting
customer's expectations.
- Ability to travel sporadically during the project.Success

Qualifications Background & Competencies Required:
- Minimum of 15 yrs. of industry experience in wireless is
required
- Bachelor's Degree in EE/CS; Advanced degree is beneficial
- Must have strong knowledge on 5G and 4G air interfaces
- Must have strong knowledge on 3GPP Rel. 15/Rel. 16/Rel. 17
standards
- Must have prior experience on major 5G concepts such as Hybrid
Beam forming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking &
co-existence, 5G Numerologies etc.
- Good understanding of overall Wireless systems with emphasis on
5G/4G PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC and PDCP layers
- Good knowledge on OAM and Virtualization concepts
- Background of 5G/4G HLD/LLD design is strongly desirable
- System Engineering experience is beneficial
- Experience with system engineering activities such as feature
requirements identification, feature description documentation,
parameter optimization, performance analysis, test strategy
creation, problem troubleshooting is desirable
- Strong knowledge in 5G and 4G air interface and call processing
technologies and network architecture specifically focused on Radio
Access Network.
- Experience with protocol analyzers, test tools such as XCAL,
QXDM, Wireshark, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal
Generators.
- Understanding of 3GPP systems: Core and RAN networks
- Experience with SW development is beneficial
- Understanding of HW as well as SW architectureNecessary Skills
and attributes: Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels
within customer's organizations an device partners. The ability to
negotiate with and convince others, in a potentially adversarial
environment, including customer leadership, directors and managers
with opposing views to accept/approve plans, technical and project
recommendations. The ability to plan, organize and prioritize
multiple strategic programs and simultaneous performance
objectives. The ability to write, read, interpret, explain and act
based on a thorough understanding of technical documents,
engineering materials and contracts or related documents. Ability
to make professional sales and business presentations in writing,
through email, reports, or orally, including complex business and
technical matters to an audience of high technical skills,
management and operational experience. Ability to support a
