Job Description:

The OGC supports the Legal department's delivery of legal services through an application of legal and other professional disciplines. Examples include, but are not limited to: 1) managing firmwide and departmental initiatives to achieve broader strategic objectives; 2) optimizing processes and technology in furtherance of those objectives; 3) implementing firmwide standards and governance; 4) engaging outside vendors and counsel; and 5) promoting awareness of risk and controls through various channels. Policies, Standards & Procedures Group Description:The Policies, Standards & Procedures Group is part of the OGC function, and amongst other things, are responsible for: partnering with the firmwide Office of Document Governance (ODG) and Legal personnel to draft, enhance and govern policies and procedures; conducting benchmark studies; identifying gaps in processes; and monitoring select action plansassessing firmwide requirements for impacts to the Legal department globally, both in substance and form; providing program management services for key policy and controls initiatives undertaken by the departmentproviding support to the firm---s Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) through various initiatives, which pair legal obligations to process documentationPosition Duties and Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will work closely with senior Legal stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess the impact of firmwide changes in policies, opine on the need for procedures, and ensure that documents governing the Legal department are updated and approved timely. The position requires strong collaboration with the department---s OLO-related work, and will support the development of a business-driven change program, globally.Further, the ideal candidate will support Legal personnel in all geographies, particularly in their effort to connect obligations with relevant processes and controls. This individual will be responsible for leading cross-enterprise efforts of legal professionals to identify information and documentation necessary to support this effort. The role requires extensive collaboration with various line of business lawyers, their Compliance, Risk, and Controls partners, as well as other senior business leaders. The environment is fast-paced, often requiring that issues be addressed with urgency to ensure the firm stays in compliance with evolving federal, state, and other local rules that may govern our highly-regulated industry. A competitive candidate must exhibit strong communicative, collaborative, analytical and strategical skills, and maintain the ability to work independently.Primary Responsibilities will include:-- Socializing newly or substantively changed policies with stakeholders; raising awareness of changes in governance that impact the broader Legal department-- Managing the review of Legal---s policy inventory; coordinating potential enhancements to Legal-owned procedures in support of legal obligations and operational processes-- Facilitating dialogues with legal and country subject-matter experts to determine appropriate policy and procedure assessment (or, where applicable, potential gaps)-- Coordinating an analysis of documentation which may support Legal---s operational accountability; socializing said analysis with other Corporate Functions, as appropriate (e.g. Risk and Compliance)Preparing and maintaining on an ongoing basis, matrices and other job aids to allow for on-going reportingOccasional research to support departmental projects that are made priorityQualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience managing, documenting, or designing, processes around legislation or regulation of financial services or other highly regulated industriesExperience in Project Management and Process design (using applicable process and technology methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Agile, etc.)Experience in working in a fast-paced, small teamStrong leadership skills and experience working in matrix-reporting work environmentsAdvanced research, writing skills, deck design and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal, management and advocacy skills. Juris Doctor or Consulting experience preferred, but not requiredPreferred Skills:Prior experience in financial services regulation, particularly with connection to regulation of financial products-- Experience in communicating, both written and verballyExcel and PowerPoint skillsThe preferred location for this position is TX or OHFull time
