Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY The Tool Maker will operate band saw, sanders,
grinders, drills, lathes, milling and boring machines to build and
repair custom tools, molds, and trim fixtures that are used to
manufacture a variety of products. The Tool Maker must be able to
ensure quality standards are maintained for each tooling/mold, jigs
and fixtures created as they are manufacturing tools and aids used
to increase the reliability, accuracy and quality of the
manufacturing process while minimizing production cycle times and
improving worker safety. Shift- Monday-Friday- 5:00am-1:30pm CORE
FUNCTIONS Repair production tooling when necessary. Sand, drill
vacuum holes, produce prototype from plastic sheet. Band saw, table
saw, powered sander, hand drill, drill press. Experience in
fabrication Repair production tooling and replace parts when
necessary. Weld and fabricate using measuring tools. Shop equipment
steel cutting saws. Use welding skills with both mig and tig
welder. Create trim out fixtures and jigs for Production. Build
fixtures to fit each manufactured part which is vital for
optimizing manufacturing processes, reducing scrap material, and
improving accuracy and repeatability of processes, reducing the
level of skill required to operate jigs and fixtures and increasing
productivity. Sand and hand polish new molds/tooling. Use tool
design skill set to design progressive dies utilized in production
from vehicle parts without help from engineering. Design of tooling
frames and other structures for tooling. QUALIFICATIONS &
REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or
equivalent experience is required. Associate degree or related job
experience is preferred. Small press machine 2 years of experience
CNC Programmer preferred 1-3 years of related experience required.
3-5 years of related experience preferred. Required Licenses None.
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Skilled in operating band saw,
sanders, grinders, drills, lathes, milling, and boring machines.
Skill to layout cavities to pour epoxy for production molds.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed
but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with
problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized
situations. Knowledge of the steps to follow to ensure proper
surface quality, vacuum holes, and proper curing of the epoxy.
Knowledge of chemicals is needed to produce epoxy molds and trim
fixtures from urethane. Travel None. COMPETENCIES Adapts to changes

succeed. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES Individual Contributor:
working team member with no oversight of others and no management
responsibilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is subject to
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or
up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of
force constantly to move objects. Physical Activities This position
is subject to the following physical activities: climbing,
balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking,
pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, talking,
hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual Acuity The worker is
required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as
preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a
computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving
small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including
inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of
fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. Working
Conditions The worker is subject to inside and outside
